Innovation and new technological solutions to redesign the future of food: two Joule companies were tackling this highly topical question alongside others at the 2026 edition of Wave by Vento, the most important Italian tech conference and one of the largest in Europe.
Foreverland and Summ Ingredients, two startups that took part in the first edition of MEAL – the entrepreneurial acceleration programme developed by Eni in collaboration with Accademia Niko Romito – were invited to the masterclass dedicated to food,where they had an opportunity to discuss real experiences of innovation and entrepreneurship applied to the food sector.
The MEAL program is based on three strategic levers:
- use of innovative ingredients in terms of health, such as legume flours for gluten-free bakery products, or with the use of fermented vegetable pastes, but also in terms of sustainability, by reusing waste;
- development of cutting-edge products, capable of combining taste, health, sustainability and long shelf life;
- design of sustainable packaging, with recyclable solutions for new stabilisation processes, to improve both product quality and environmental, economic and social impact.
In addition, Mattia Voltaggio, Head of Joule, took part in the "Fuel for life: food, wellbeing and the case for innovation" panel: a discussion on the relationship between nutrition, health, and longevity and on the role that innovation can play in transforming new knowledge and technologies into practical, accessible and scalable solutions.
Wave by Vento, an offshoot of Italian Tech Week, took place in Turin from 7-9 October. A key event for the world of innovation and new technologies, over three days it played host to more than 200 speakers, with 80 interviews, keynotes, panels and meetings, plus 46 masterclasses and a rich array of podcasts and side events.
